Six weeks after giving birth, "Saturday Night Live" head writer/"Weekend Update" co-anchor Tina Fey is returning to the show.

The 35-year-old Fey, who joined "SNL" as a writer in 1997 and has been appearing on-camera since 2000, has been on maternity leave for the first few weeks of the season. She's set to return Saturday (Oct. 22), six weeks after giving birth to her first child, a girl named Alice.

"I had to get back to work," Fey jokes. "NBC has me under contract; the baby and I only have a verbal agreement."

Fellow cast member Horatio Sanz has been filling in for Fey on "Weekend Update," anchoring the fake newscast with Amy Poehler.

Oscar winner Catherine Zeta-Jones is set to host Saturday's "SNL." Franz Ferdinand will be the musical guest.
